Franciacorta's cellars are well worth visiting, not only because of their superb wines but also because many are located in historical patrician villas and fully renovated estate farmhouses. Even the small family run estates are enchanting in their peacefully tranquil hillside settings. Most of the cellars, (well and clearly signposted) are open to visitors, giving tourists the opportunity to discover more about the winemaking process, and meet the producers, all talented and passionate, and each with a unique style.
Most bottles can be purchased directly at the cellar. It's advisable nonetheless to telephone in advance before visiting. The Association publishes an excellent guide with a detailed map, available at the Association's headquarters in Erbusco.
